Hotel technology is supposed to make running a hotel easier.

But getting that technology up and running can sometimes feel like a project in itself.

You’re handed an implementation playbook and expected to figure out the rest. You bring in a third-party consultant just to get the system configured correctly. A support ticket sits unanswered for days. Or you find yourself stuck in an endless loop with a chatbot when what you really need is a person who understands the problem, understands hotels, and can help you solve it.

As the technology industry races toward more automation and AI, there’s a real risk of automating away one of the things customers need most: actual support.

At Stayntouch, we believe implementation and support aren’t separate from the product experience. They’re part of it.

Buying technology is the beginning, not the finish line

A PMS touches nearly every part of a hotel’s operation. Moving to a new one isn’t the same as downloading another piece of software and creating a login.

There are workflows to configure, systems to connect, data to migrate, teams to train, and a hotel operation that still needs to keep running while all of that is happening.

That’s why implementation shouldn’t amount to sending a customer documentation and wishing them luck.

Hotel teams need people who can guide them through the process, understand how their property actually operates, and help them make decisions along the way. And once the system is live, that relationship shouldn’t disappear.

Because even the best technology won’t eliminate every question, unexpected issue, or 11 p.m. “we need help now” moment.

Self-service is useful. Being able to reach a person matters too.

There’s nothing wrong with using AI, chatbots, knowledge bases, or self-service tools to make it easier for customers to find answers quickly.

We use technology to make our own support experience faster and more efficient too.

But those tools should make it easier to get help, not become barriers between the hotel and someone who can actually help them.

When a guest is standing at the front desk, a system isn’t behaving as expected, or an operational issue needs to be resolved quickly, the hotel team shouldn’t have to spend hours searching documentation or trying to convince a chatbot that they need a human.

Hotels operate 24/7. Support has to be designed around that reality.

That means giving hotel teams multiple ways to get help. It means having knowledgeable people available when issues can’t wait. And it means having support teams that understand the operational realities behind the question they’re being asked.

Hospitality experience changes the conversation

There’s also a difference between someone who knows the software and someone who understands why the problem matters.

When your support team has hospitality experience, they understand that a seemingly small technology issue may be affecting a line of guests waiting to check in, a night auditor trying to close the day, or a revenue team attempting to make an urgent rate change.

That context matters.

It allows support to move beyond troubleshooting a feature toward helping the hotel solve the actual operational problem.

That’s a major reason Stayntouch continues to invest in people alongside technology.

And hotels shouldn’t have to take our word for it

Every technology company says it provides excellent customer support.

That’s precisely why independent validation matters.

Stayntouch recently earned Level 4 Global Customer Support Certification from Hotel Tech Report, the program’s highest certification, with a perfect 34/34 assessment score. The certification required Stayntouch to open its internal systems and processes to Hotel Tech Report for review across pre-emptive support, reactive support, customer success and coaching, and customer validation.

The review verified practices including 24/7 support, multilingual assistance, phone, email and live chat support, SLA monitoring, implementation resources, ongoing training, customer success processes, and customer satisfaction measurement.Hotel Tech Report also looked beyond Stayntouch’s internal processes and considered feedback from actual hotel customers, including more than 100 verified customer reviews and an average customer support rating above 4.5 out of 5.

That distinction is important.

The certification isn’t what makes our support good. It gives hotels independent evidence that the experience we promise is backed by real people, real processes, and real customer feedback.

Support should be part of how you evaluate hotel technology

Hotels understandably spend a lot of time evaluating product capabilities when choosing a PMS.

What does it integrate with? How intuitive is it? Can it support the way our property operates? Will it give our teams the flexibility they need?

Those questions matter.

But there are a few others worth asking too:

What happens after we sign the contract?

Who is actually going to help us implement this?

How will our team be trained?

If we need help on a Saturday night, can we reach someone?

And will that person understand what’s happening inside our hotel?

Because technology doesn’t exist separately from the people using it.

The best hotel technology should be easy to adopt, easy to operate, and backed by people who are there when you need them.

We don’t see that as an added service.

We see it as part of the product.
