POL1 – IMPACT OF REFRIGERANTS – MAX. 4 CREDITS
OBJECTIVE – To reduce the level of greenhouse gas emissions resulting from leakage of refrigerants used to heat or cool the building.
Assessment criteria:
- Leak detection: Where systems using refrigerants are fitted with a permanent automated refrigerant leak detection system.
ABB category
Energy metering
Entry Door System
Heating, ventilation and air conditioning
Connectivity with BMS
Ranges of wiring devices and installation materials
KNX building automation*
ABB SMART BUILDINGS SOLUTIONS
(*) Part of the leak detection system.
Refrigerant measurement could be a variable for a controller, but this is not normally a category considered as part of a BEMS control system.
POL4 – NIGHT-TIME LIGHT POLLUTION – MAX. 1 CREDIT
OBJECTIVE – To ensure that external lighting is focused on appropriate areas and that upward lighting is minimised, reducing unnecessary light pollution, energy consumption and disturbance to neighbours.
Assessment criteria:
- All external lighting (except security lighting) can be automatically switched off between 23:00 and 07:00.
ABB category
Energy metering**
Entry Door System
Heating, ventilation and air conditioning
Connectivity with BMS*
Ranges of wiring devices and installation materials

ABB SMART BUILDINGS SOLUTIONS
(*) Applicable to devices that can switch off external lighting. (**) All metering products (except CMS and EV meters) have digital outputs that can act to control an on/off switch. Control can be carried out via timers (AG timers, DBT timers) and via twilight switches (TL line). Dimming is not possible.
