WHAT IS BREEAM ?
Since 1990, BREEAM’s third-party certified standards have helped improve asset performance at every stage, from design through construction, through use and refurbishment. Millions of buildings around the world are registered to BREEAM’s holistic approach to achieve environmental and social governance (ESG), health, and net zero goals.
To obtain a BREEAM certificate for a building, assessors examine the extent to which a building complies with regulatory standards and assess how the building compares with market performance. As a result of the assessment, the building receives a rating range from Pass, Good, Very Good, Excellent to Outstanding and it is reflected in a series of stars on the BREEAM certificate.
WHAT IS BREEAM AND THE CATEGORIES?
The objective of the rating is to allow comparability between projects and to provide assurance to clients and users. In total, a building can achieve X BREEAM credits in different categories (the number of points depends on the type of building being constructed). Each of these categories consists of different parameters that measure sustainable value, from energy to ecology.

SUMMARY OF MAXIMUM POSSIBLE CREDITS WITH ABB
ABB Smart Buildings solutions can contribute up to 20 BREEAM credits in the categories of Management, Health and Wellbeing, Energy, Water, Waste, Pollution and Innovation (and up to a maximum of 44 credits if ABB Smart Power solutions and Electric Vehicle charging infrastructure are added).
The possibility of obtaining these credits has been analysed and verified by an independent and qualified consulting agency, ENCON, specialised in supporting companies in their transition towards sustainability and qualified in sustainability assessment methodologies, including BREEAM certification.
To help obtain these credits, ABB specialists help you select the best solutions for your project and provide the necessary documentation for the BREEAM assessment. This goes beyond general documents and certificates, as it provides project-specific information to increase the BREEAM score.
