From AI Adoption to AI Growth: indasys Builds New Business Opportunities with Lenovo TruScale Infrastructure as a Service

With Lenovo TruScale, indasys can scale capacity as demand grows without making significant upfront infrastructure investments.

For organizations looking to put AI to work, access to powerful compute is only part of the challenge. They also need to manage sensitive data, meet security and compliance requirements, and scale infrastructure without unpredictable costs.

For indasys IT Systemhaus AG, those challenges presented a significant business opportunity: use AI to transform its own operations, then turn that experience into secure, sovereign AI services that could help its customers do the same.

Working with Lenovo and NVIDIA, indasys deployed a private-cloud AI platform using Lenovo TruScale Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS). The platform gives the company a scalable, locally controlled foundation for AI, supporting its own use cases, extending BaWü Cloud – its localized cloud offering for businesses in Baden-Württemberg – and underpinning Agentum GmbH, its new AI subsidiary.

With Lenovo TruScale, indasys can also scale capacity as demand grows without making significant upfront infrastructure investments.

“We’ve seen first-hand how impactful AI can be for a business,” said Daniel Berger, Group CEO, indasys IT Systemhaus AG. “Using Lenovo TruScale, we’ve achieved significant gains in efficiency, and we now want to help our customers do the same with Agentum GmbH. With Lenovo, we can deliver full digital sovereignty in our local private cloud in Germany or with on-premises deployments.”

Turning AI ambition into a scalable business model

As indasys expanded its use of AI, it saw an opportunity to go beyond improving its own operations and create new AI services for customers. To do that, the company needed a high-performance platform capable of supporting both internal AI workloads and commercial services through BaWü Cloud and its new Agentum business.

For customers handling sensitive or regulated data, indasys also needed to offer greater control over where AI data and workloads are hosted and processed. This made locally controlled private-cloud and on-premises deployment options an important part of its AI strategy. indasys therefore wanted the flexibility to deliver AI through locally hosted private-cloud and on-premises environments, while scaling capacity as demand grew without significant upfront infrastructure investment.

Building on its existing experience, indasys worked with Lenovo to bring together infrastructure, accelerated computing, private-cloud control, implementation expertise and an as-a-service consumption model in a single AI platform. Through Lenovo TruScale IaaS, indasys can scale capacity as demand grows without significant upfront infrastructure investment.

The resulting in-house AI platform provides locally controlled private-cloud resources for running AI applications, giving indasys greater control over where sensitive data and AI workloads reside while supporting both indasys’ own use cases and customer services delivered through Agentum GmbH and BaWü Cloud. Its modular design gives indasys the flexibility to expand capacity as those requirements evolve.

Lenovo ThinkSystem servers, Intel® Xeon® 6 processors, NVIDIA L4 Tensor Core GPUs and Lenovo storage provide the accelerated performance required for AI workloads, while keeping data-intensive applications on local private-cloud infrastructure.

Lenovo Professional Services helped turn the platform design into an operational AI environment quickly and reliably, supporting implementation and establishing best practices from the outset.

“AI adoption depends on more than powerful infrastructure,” said Linda Yao, Vice President and General Manager, Hybrid Cloud and AI Solutions, Lenovo. “Organizations need secure, scalable environments that keep data-intensive workloads close while helping them move quickly from pilots to outcomes. With Lenovo TruScale IaaS, indasys can combine private-cloud control, NVIDIA-accelerated performance and Lenovo services to bring practical AI to German customers through an as-a-service model.”

Turning internal AI experience into customer value

The Lenovo-powered platform is already creating value for indasys in two ways: it is improving internal operations as well as giving the company proven examples of AI use in practice to apply to customer projects.

Public-sector tendering is one example. Preparing bids can be highly time and resource-intensive, requiring teams to analyze complex requirements and prepare submissions within tight deadlines. indasys is using AI analytics to support this work, helping its teams evaluate opportunities and respond to more tenders.

As a result, indasys has increased its capacity to bid for public-sector tenders sixfold. The company has submitted more than 150 bids supported by AI analytics and guidance, with a 32% win rate.

AI is also helping improve support operations. AI analytics automate task scheduling and provide real-time visibility into engineer availability, helping indasys optimize resources and respond more efficiently to customers.

By proving AI’s value within its own business, indasys has created credible, real-world use cases to demonstrate value to customers and develop new solutions and services.

Bringing private-cloud AI closer to customers

indasys is now taking that experience to customers through BaWü Cloud and Agentum GmbH.

Through BaWü Cloud, small and medium businesses in Baden-Württemberg can access locally-hosted cloud and AI services with greater choice and control over where sensitive data and workloads reside as they navigate legislation including the EU AI Act. This approach is particularly relevant for organizations with stringent data sovereignty, security and regulatory requirements, including customers in public administration and healthcare.

Agentum GmbH gives indasys a dedicated consulting and services business through which it can bring customized, modular AI solutions to customers using sovereign private-cloud or on-premises deployments.

“Our modular AI private-cloud offering built with Lenovo TruScale allows our customers to effortlessly adopt AI while protecting critical intellectual property,” said Tobias Drescher, CEO, Agentum GmbH (indasys IT Systemhaus AG).

For indasys, Agentum turns its internal AI experience into a repeatable customer offering, helping organizations move from exploring AI to deploying it in environments designed around their security, sovereignty and operational requirements.

Results: creating a platform for growth

The Lenovo-powered platform is delivering value for indasys at multiple levels. With up to 4x performance improvements for AI workloads, the company has the compute capacity to expand its use of AI across the business.

In addition to AI-assisted tendering increasing indasys’ capacity to bid for public-sector opportunities, AI is also helping optimize support operations through automated scheduling and improved visibility into engineer availability.

indasys is now turning this first-hand experience into new commercial opportunities. Through Agentum GmbH, its dedicated AI business, and BaWü Cloud, the company can take proven use cases and sovereign AI capabilities to customers through locally hosted private-cloud and on-premises environments.

With Lenovo technology, expertise and the TruScale flexible consumption model underpinning its AI platform, indasys has become a Lenovo 360 Platinum Partner, and is improving its own operations, creating new areas of business and helping customers adopt AI with greater control over their data.
