Money20/20 brought industry leaders together during a period of real change in payments. For Marqeta, the week was a chance to share customer and partner news, spend time with the people building programs on our platform, and talk through the trends shaping what comes next. We came away from this year’s event with a clear view of where demand is heading, shaped by conversations with everyone from analysts to enterprise buyers.
We opened the week with announcements that show how we’re enabling customer innovation and enhancing our product suite.
Block selected Marqeta to enable Square credit card on the American Express network. Marqeta now supports Square’s credit card on the American Express network, extending a longstanding relationship with Block that includes Square’s debit and prepaid programs. Our portfolio migration capabilities let existing Square Card accounts move onto the platform without disrupting the cardholder experience.
Marqeta and Coinbase collaborate to enable stablecoin-backed card payments. Following our strategic partnerships with BVNK and zerohash, the Coinbase collaboration links stablecoins directly to existing card rails, so they can be used for purchases anywhere a card is accepted. It builds on our existing relationship with Coinbase, where we already issue crypto-backed cards.
Marqeta enables new payment experiences with stablecoin-backed card solutions. As stablecoin networks mature and become more central to money movement and settlement, our multinational platform and partner ecosystem help companies bring new financial products to market faster.
Marqeta CEO Mike Milotich joined industry conversations throughout the show.
On the MoneyPot Stage, he sat down with Moe Matar, CTO of Marqeta customer OnePay, to discuss how a card program evolves from launch to scale. The two teams have worked together on debit, Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL), a credit-builder card, and a family card, and the conversation drew on that experience.

On the MoneyPot Podcast, Mike covered the shifting trends in payments, including flexible credentials, stablecoins, agentic commerce, and multinational card issuing.
Two themes came up consistently, and both play to what our platform is built to do.
Modernization: More companies are weighing a move off legacy infrastructure, and they want a partner who can help them make the shift.
Product continuum: Customers want to serve consumers and small businesses at every stage of their financial journey, which takes a platform that grows with them.
Companies are also looking ahead to stablecoins, agentic commerce, flexible credentials, and multinational issuing, and they want a platform ready for what’s next.

Back for a third year as Marqeta’s home base at Money20/20, the Wakuda restaurant opened Monday with a book signing. Ahmed Siddiqui signed copies of his newly released book, The Evolution of the Swipe, which includes a foreword by Company founder Jason Gardner.
Marqeta also hosted an invite-only gathering for payment leaders, closing out day one with valuable time to connect with customers and partners. Marqeta’s refreshed brand was also on display throughout the show, and it sparked conversations about the exciting opportunities ahead.
