November 5, 2026 / Barcelona, Spain. Dahua Technology, a world-leading video-centric AIoT solution and service provider, showcased its latest smart city solutions at the Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC) 2026, held from November 3 to 5 in Barcelona. Under the theme “Together for an AI-powered urban future,” Dahua presented AIoT applications designed to address real-world urban challenges and support safer, more efficient, and more sustainable city development.
At SCEWC 2026, Dahua’s exhibition booth features AIoT solutions for smart city applications.
First held in 2011, the Smart City Expo World Congress has grown into a leading global event for urban innovation, bringing together city leaders, government representatives, and industry experts to discuss the future of cities. At SCEWC 2026, Dahua shared how intelligent sensing, video analytics, AI, and data-driven platforms can help cities better understand and respond to evolving operational needs. Its participation also provided an opportunity to exchange ideas with international stakeholders on practical approaches to smart city development.
Building Safer, More Connected Cities
Dahua’s Urban Safety solutions bring together intelligent sensing, risk detection, and coordinated emergency response. By connecting cameras and other IoT devices with AI-powered analytics and unified management platforms, these solutions help operators spot potential risks, locate relevant information, and coordinate action. One featured application showed how AI agents can support missing-person searches by combining intelligent recognition, text-and-image search, and route tracking with linked broadcasting and security workflows, helping staff identify clues and respond more quickly.
For Smart Traffic, Dahua presented technologies for traffic monitoring, signal optimization, traffic enforcement, and road incident detection. Real-time data and intelligent analytics help traffic authorities access road conditions, adjust signal timings, and identify incidents such as stopped vehicles and wrong-way driving. In Campeche, Mexico, Dahua optimized 34 intersections and introduced seven green waves. The project recorded 23 improvements, a 20% increase in traffic volume, and a 15% reduction in waiting time. These capabilities support safer roads and more efficient traffic management.

Across public transportation, Dahua’s Smart Mobility solutions apply intelligent monitoring and safety features, helping operators oversee services and manage day-to-day operations. Vehicle monitoring, safety alerts, and integrated information help improve passenger safety and service efficiency, with these capabilities already in use across urban mobility systems. In bus operations, they include driver monitoring to detect risky behaviors, as well as real-time video, GPS tracking, and passenger counting to support safety oversight, fleet management and fare verification.
Supporting Smarter Urban Management
In City Governance, Dahua highlighted the role of AI analysis and multimodal information processing in addressing everyday management issues. These technologies can detect illegal street vending, waste left in public areas, missing manhole covers, and road flooding, as well as risks such as blocked fire lanes, smoke, and fire. Natural-language search and automatic alerts help staff identify issues and coordinate responses, enabling a more proactive approach to urban management.

Dahua also showcased its Eco-Environment solutions for natural resource protection and environmental management. For Forest Fire Prevention, thermal imaging cameras mounted on high towers provide 360-degree coverage, detect potential fire hotspots up to 10 kilometers away, and operate day and night. The broader solution combines ground-based monitoring, thermal imaging, and drone-based observation to support fire detection and location, as well as emergency coordination.
For water monitoring, Dahua presented a radar-based device paired with a PTZ camera. It tracks water levels in real time and provides visual information on site conditions. When readings exceed preset thresholds, the system can send automatic alerts, helping personnel monitor rivers, lakes, reservoirs, and flood-prone areas.
Across these five areas, Dahua emphasized the value of connecting data, devices, and operational systems to help cities respond more effectively to challenges in public safety, traffic, mobility, governance, and environmental management.
Exploring the Next Stage of Urban AI
Beyond the exhibition, Dahua also participated in discussions on emerging AI technologies and their implications for urban development.
Dahua joins a high-level roundtable at SCEWC 2026.
John Li, General Manager of Global Government Business Department at Dahua Technology, joined the high-level roundtable “Agentic AI: Systems That Act.” The discussion examined how agentic AI is moving beyond decision support toward autonomous action in real-world settings. Drawing on Dahua’s experience, John highlighted how AI embedded in cameras and sensors enables proactive city management, from AI-powered searches to AI agents that identify urban issues and track their resolution. He also stressed the importance of privacy protection, transparency, and accountability in ensuring AI delivers public value.
In a solution talk titled “Building Resilient, Inclusive & Sustainable Smart Cities with AIoT,” Max Huang, Director of Global Government Projects at Dahua Technology, focused on how Dahua’s AIoT infrastructure provides the foundation for applying large AI models in real-world scenarios. He explained how edge intelligence and high-quality structured data input bridge the gap between AI capabilities and practical applications, enabling more effective AI deployment in smart cities and other industries.

Together, these exchanges underscored that the future of AI-powered cities depends not only on technological advances, but also on applying innovation responsibly to real-world urban challenges. Dahua aims to translate these advances into practical AIoT applications that support smarter, more resilient, and more sustainable cities.
“After all, IoT sensing devices are the ‘eyes and hands’ of AI. Future AI will not only process information in the digital world. It will go deeper into the physical world and truly help us manage cities to be safer, more efficient, and more livable,” said Li.
