Our opportunity is to reinvent systems of record for an agentic world, not just build new experiences on top of them, while giving every business an entirely new way to orchestrate work and build what is missing. I believe all this can reset business SaaS. That is the direction we are taking at Microsoft: Copilot as a new OS for work, with a governed infinite SaaS factory built in.

The Agentic world will reside on an Agentic Platform, not SaaS Agents are Assets Build and Sell the Agents you train on Capabilities.

Treating Copilot as an orchestration layer rather than just an interface wrapper is where enterprise value actually unlocks. When systems of record transition from static databases into agentic operational loops, the real advantage lies in governance and enterprise context memory.

"Governed" carries the weight here. When Code extends a Dataverse schema, does that write run under its own agent identity, with scoped entitlements and the same promotion gate as a human-built solution? If yes, SaaS resets. If not, it is Shadow IT at machine speed.

Satya Nadella When software can understand context, make decisions, and act across systems, employees will spend less time moving information and more time judging what should happen. That makes human judgment more important, not less.

A very important shift. The key is not simply adding AI on top of existing SaaS, but redesigning the System of Record itself for an agentic world. As agents create, coordinate, and execute more work, the next bottleneck may no longer be Capability, but Authority. An agent may be able to recommend or generate an action, but that does not mean it should automatically have the authority to change the real state of the business. Decision ≠ Authority ≠ Execution. I believe the future Enterprise OS will evolve from a System of Record, to a System of Action, and ultimately to a System of Authority. The more “infinite” the SaaS factory becomes, the more important the question will be: not how many agents can we create, but how do we govern their state transitions and execution authority safely?

Reinventing systems of record makes sense, but agents are only as good as the data underneath. In paid media, GA4, the CRM and Meta all claim credit for the same conversion. Let agents act on that and you scale the mess, not the insight. If software becomes infinite, the moat shifts to clean data and trust. Curious how "governed" works when the record itself is wrong.

Another banger article at right time, Satya Nadella 👏 . It’s high time we started building distributed systems around AI and this new form of intelligence, where users sit at the center of a mix of local and cloud intelligence, supported by an autonomous layer that decides where and how to use intelligence based on cost, security, speed, and the task at hand. I like that Microsoft is taking a strong step toward a world where AI doesn’t have a fixed location. Intelligence can move between your device and the cloud depending on what the task requires.
