This year, Enphase marks 20 years as a company. That milestone matters. In an industry where most companies are defined by short cycles and shorter memories, lasting two decades is evidence of durability, resilience, and hard-earned trust. Twenty years is not just a number. It reflects thousands of decisions made deliberately, years of engineering discipline, and a consistent choice to prioritize quality over shortcuts. Many companies enter the energy technology space. Very few survive. Fewer still shape it.
Enphase was founded in California in 2006 by Raghu Belur and Martin Fornage with a clear belief that distributed, intelligent energy systems could be safer, more reliable, and fundamentally better for homeowners and the grid. That belief has not changed. What has changed is our scale, our reach, and the responsibility that comes with leadership. From the start, Enphase set a higher bar for reliability, safety, and performance. That standard has carried us through technology shifts, market cycles, and policy changes—without compromising what our customers depend on. Longevity is not accidental. It is earned by teams who show up every day, sweat the details, and refuse to compromise when it would be easier to do so.
That discipline has translated into measurable, real-world impact. Since our founding, Enphase microinverters have helped produce more than 107 terawatt-hours of clean energy for homes around the world. That is roughly equivalent to the annual output of 36 large natural gas power plants—displaced through distributed solar alone. This is not aspirational progress. It is energy delivered, emissions avoided, and resilience built—one home at a time.
This anniversary allows Enphase to clearly differentiate itself, particularly as the market sees a wave of low-cost, low-durability solutions chasing short-term demand. Enphase stands apart with a 20-year record of sustained innovation, manufacturing discipline, and customer trust.
Looking forward, our opportunity expands significantly. Based on U.S. manufacturing capacity alone, Enphase can produce up to 20 million microinverters annually—approximately seven gigawatts of clean power capacity. That is the equivalent of three to four nuclear power plants brought online every year, delivered through distributed infrastructure embedded in communities rather than centralized generation. Executing on this potential requires focus, discipline, and long-term thinking.
The urgency is increasing. Between now and 2030, artificial intelligence, data centers, electrified transportation, and more electric homes will drive a sharp rise in global electricity demand. Meeting that demand cannot rely solely on centralized generation. It will require flexible, distributed energy resources that can be deployed quickly, scaled efficiently, and coordinated intelligently.
Enphase systems are designed for this reality. We help close the growing power gap while enabling homeowners to become active participants in the energy system. Homes with solar, batteries, and intelligent energy management are no longer passive endpoints. They are generation assets, storage nodes, and grid partners. This is the practical evolution of the grid.
Over the past two decades, Enphase has reached several defining milestones. Founded in 2006, we introduced the first microinverter-based solar system in 2008, launched the IQ series in 2017, expanded globally into batteries in 2020 and EV charging in 2022, scaled U.S. manufacturing beginning in 2023, and now support more than five million Enphase-based systems worldwide.
