Thus far we've run and scaled the Saleor core and official Saleor Apps for Saleor Cloud accounts. The storefront, the ERP sync, the job that pushes stock — those stayed in their own infrastructure, run by our clients. That code is how the store becomes yours. At the same time, we saw commerce companies often struggling to become technology companies. Guess what: we think they shouldn't have to.

A big advantage of headless is that you can precisely run and operate that outer ring of apps and integrations, without anyone's permission. Teams could build the app and run it end to end. Keeping it up that way gives a lot of freedom, but it also comes with a tangible cost: a full deploy pipeline and staff on call when things run slow and someone needs to figure out why. It all landed on a commerce team, or on a partner who does not sit next to the core. When those two fail separately, the incident is a thread between two companies. Not anymore.

The Engine app is also our chance to say this out loud. We are integrating the Saleor Cloud console and the Saleor Dashboard, and we are going deeper than we ever have. That is why Engine already lives in the Dashboard as a Dashboard app. The rest of that join — Cloud environments, and the Cloud and developer APIs — is planned for early 2027.
