AMI MegaRAC OneTree now offers production-ready support for the SK hynix RAS Library, bringing DRAM-level memory resilience and RAS intelligence to the BMC.

A Year-Long Strategic Partnership Brings DRAM Design Intelligence to the BMC

Following an announcement in late 2025 on vendor-specific DRAM RAS services for BMCs in collaboration with SK hynix® and other industry leaders, AMI, a Lattice Company, is pleased to share that AMI MegaRAC OneTree™ Open-BMC™ based BMC Firmware now offers production-ready support for the SK hynix RAS Library. Achieving full commercial readiness within approximately one year of the initial partnership announcement, this collaboration between AMI and SK hynix represents a significant advancement in the intelligent Reliability, Availability, and Serviceability (RAS) capabilities within the AMI MegaRAC manageability ecosystem.

Addressing Critical Data Center Challenges: Memory Reliability

In modern data center operations, memory stands as both a critical asset and a high-cost component. While memory errors are infrequent, the occurrence of an uncorrectable error can be catastrophic, potentially bringing down an entire server or cluster until the faulty DRAM DIMM is replaced. Consequently, the industry demand for proactive error management technologies has never been more urgent.

Addressing how reliability is at the core of its design process, Wonho Shin, Team leader of the DRAM System Quality Team of SK hynix commented that “DRAM reliability is not an afterthought – it is designed into the silicon itself.” He added that “SK hynix has packaged the insight that comes from designing its own DRAM into a vendor-specific RAS Library, as firmware that runs on the Baseboard Management Controller (BMC) and is fully integrated with AMI MegaRAC OneTree.”

“Our collaboration with SK hynix demonstrates what is possible when deep memory expertise and advanced platform manageability come together. Integrating the SK hynix RAS Library with AMI MegaRAC OneTree gives customers a platform-level approach to memory resilience, helping turn potential disruptions into more manageable and planned service events,” said Anurag Bhatia, CVP, Manageability & Security Group (MSG) of AMI.

With the integration of the SK hynix RAS Library into AMI MegaRAC OneTree, customers are now equipped to:

  • Strengthen Memory Reliability: Errors are absorbed where they originate – at the DIMM level – before they can propagate into node- or cluster-wide outages, maximizing system uptime through proactive error response.
  • Improve Serviceability, Reduce TCO: Runtime repair and page-offlining convert emergency DIMM swaps and post-crash diagnosis into planned, lightweight maintenance, cutting service cost and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
  • Build Resilient Infrastructure: Because the RAS Library ships inside the AMI MegaRAC BMC firmware stack, memory resilience becomes a platform-level capability available across the server ecosystem, rather than a bespoke, per-project integration.

Through this successful collaboration, AMI and SK hynix aim to set a new standard for memory reliability in the data center industry. With integration into AMI MegaRAC OneTree, the SK hynix vendor-specific library for Memory Resilience Technology is ready to help customers strengthen memory reliability, improve serviceability, and support more resilient infrastructure. The joint solution is poised for official release towards the end of 2026.
