Introducing IBM Cloud Secrets Manager Vault Dedicated: HashiCorp Vault Enterprise, managed by IBM

A new way for IBM Cloud® customers to consume HashiCorp® Vault® Enterprise on dedicated infrastructure without the operational burden of running it themselves.

Today, IBM is announcing IBM Cloud Secrets Manager Vault Dedicated, a fully managed deployment of HashiCorp Vault Enterprise on IBM Cloud. Available on dedicated, single-tenant infrastructure and operated by IBM, the service gives organizations another way to adopt Vault Enterprise while reducing the responsibilities associated with deploying and managing the underlying service.

This launch marks an important step in bringing the power of HashiCorp solutions to IBM Cloud customers. Organizations can now access the enterprise-grade secrets management and machine identity capabilities of Vault Enterprise through a managed IBM Cloud service. This service combines the innovation of HashiCorp Vault with IBM’s experience operating mission-critical cloud services.

Across industries, organizations are facing an explosion of secrets and machine identities. Applications, containers, APIs, AI agents, databases, cloud services and automated workflows all depend on credentials, certificates, tokens and encryption keys. As environments become increasingly hybrid and AI-powered, managing those credentials securely has become both a security challenge and an operational burden.

Many enterprises rely on HashiCorp Vault Enterprise to centrally secure and manage secrets and sensitive data across their cloud, on-premises and hybrid environments. For IBM Cloud clients looking to simplify how they deploy and manage Vault, a fully managed option provides a new way to take advantage of Vault Enterprise capabilities. This option reduces the operational responsibilities associated with managing the underlying service. The offering brings the security and governance of Vault Enterprise to IBM Cloud as a managed service.

IBM Cloud Secrets Manager Vault Dedicated provides a dedicated instance of HashiCorp Vault Enterprise running on IBM Cloud and managed by IBM.

Customers receive:

  • A dedicated, centralized single-tenant enterprise Vault deployment
  • Full enterprise Vault capabilities
  • IBM-managed infrastructure, operations and lifecycle management
  • Hybrid and multicloud support through Vault’s ecosystem and integrations
  • Integration with IBM Cloud security and compliance capabilities
  • Dynamic credentials and automated credential rotation
  • Policy-based access controls
  • Auditability and governance capabilities to help organizations meet the control requirements of IBM Cloud for Financial Services®. These capabilities also support compliance with global regulations and frameworks such as DORA, GDPR, SOC 2 and PCI DSS, as well as regional regulations including C5, ENS High and Protected B.
  • Enterprise support from IBM

Customers can use Vault Dedicated to secure workloads across IBM Cloud, on-premises infrastructure and other cloud environments through Vault’s established integration ecosystem. For security and platform teams, this deployment option provides a choice in how they adopt and operate Vault Enterprise. Organizations can use Vault Enterprise directly when they want greater operational control or choose IBM Cloud Vault Dedicated when they prefer IBM to manage the underlying infrastructure, operations and services. This approach gives IBM customers more flexibility in how they deploy Vault while maintaining consistency in secrets and machine identity management.

The rapid adoption of AI introduces an entirely new category of machine identities. AI applications and autonomous agents increasingly require access to models, databases, APIs, vector stores and external services. Each access point creates another credential that must be controlled, monitored and rotated. Secrets Manager Vault Dedicated enables organizations to apply the same enterprise-grade controls used for traditional applications to AI environments. This approach helps security teams govern how machine identities are issued, accessed and audited across increasingly automated systems.

With HashiCorp now part of IBM, customers are looking for simpler ways to bring proven HashiCorp technologies into their enterprise cloud environments. IBM Cloud Secrets Manager Vault Dedicated reflects that vision by combining:

  • HashiCorp Vault Enterprise capabilities
  • IBM Cloud infrastructure
  • IBM-managed operations
  • IBM enterprise support
  • IBM’s experience serving security-sensitive and regulated industries

The result is a managed service designed to help organizations accelerate adoption of enterprise secrets management while reducing operational complexity.

Whether you are standardizing on HashiCorp Vault Enterprise, modernizing security operations, supporting AI initiatives or strengthening governance across hybrid environments, IBM Cloud Secrets Manager Vault Dedicated provides a fully managed path to enterprise-grade secrets management on IBM Cloud.
