You have a supplier invoice in EUR, a business card in your wallet and a to-do list that is already too long. The last thing you need is another spreadsheet trying to explain what cross border payments are really costing your business.
This is where it helps to understand how Wise Business can help you save money and receive cashback on your everyday business spending. For Wise Business customers in the UK Wise volume discounts enable you to unlock a reduced fee from monthly spend of £20,000 and above, and with card cashback on your Wise Business cards you can receive 0.5% on eligible purchases.
These features make planning your finances easier and more cost efficient. They do different jobs, but together they can make your monthly spending easier to plan.

How do volume discounts work with Wise Business?
Sending a large payment across borders can be a complex process — you want to know that your suppliers or employees receive the right amount at the right time.
Unfortunately, many traditional providers will charge you hidden fees on cross-border payments with a 2-5% margin baked into their FX rate. With Wise's volume discounts, we apply a lower fee automatically when your completed cross-currency transfers or conversions reach certain levels during a calendar month — for UK customers, that’s £20,000 per month.
You don't need to switch this on or apply for another tier of membership - we simply apply the discount to your transactions once your monthly payments reach £20,000 per month. The volume discount does not apply to same-currency payments, cancelled transfers or transactions that have not been completed.
For UK-registered businesses, the discount is based on the monthly eligible volume in GBP. Your personal and Wise Business accounts are tracked separately. If you’re wondering, does this volume discount apply per account owner/ profile or per account (e.g. if I send £10k on my personal account to consumers and £10K on business account would volume discount kick in, or do I need £20k on business to activate it on business spend?) — you need to reach the threshold within your Wise Business account. Personal and business volumes are tracked separately, so £10,000 sent personally plus £10,000 sent through your business account won’t combine to trigger a discount.
Read our article on large-transfer fees for the full conditions and current thresholds.
Here’s how the discount applies:
The discounts are applied progressively. This means you pay our standard, low fees on the first £20,000 of eligible monthly volume, then the applicable lower fee applies only to the amount above that threshold.

What is card cashback with Wise Business?
Card cashback is another way to make your Wise Business account work better for you. If your Wise Business account and card are registered in the UK, you are automatically enrolled when you use the card. We pay 0.5% cashback on eligible business-card transactions, usually on the first business day of each month, and it appears in your account as a Reward.
Which transactions are eligible for Cashback?
Cashback is designed for eligible everyday business purchases, rather than every possible card payment. ATM withdrawals, cash-like transactions, gift vouchers, gambling, payments to financial institutions, commodities, investments, savings, cryptoassets, government payments and tax payments are excluded. Check here on how business card cashback works for the full list of conditions, exclusions and payment timing.
At a glance: which benefit applies to your payment?
Use volume discounts for cross-currency payments, and cashback for eligible card purchases
Wise volume discounts can reduce the fee on eligible cross-currency transfers and conversions once your completed monthly volume reaches the relevant threshold. Cashback is different: it applies to eligible purchases made with your Wise Business card.
If you are paying a EUR supplier from GBP, check your eligible monthly transfer volume. If you are paying for software, travel or supplies with your card, check whether that purchase qualifies for cashback. The payment type tells you which benefit to look at.
Plan overseas payments across the calendar month
If you are paying overseas suppliers, contractors or manufacturers, your volume discount is based on completed eligible transfers and conversions during the calendar month. This means it is helpful to keep expected payment dates and amounts in view, particularly in months when you have several cross-currency payments to make.
You do not need to delay a necessary payment to reach a threshold. Instead, use the fee shown when you set up each transfer to plan your cash flow, knowing that eligible completed activity in the same month may contribute towards the relevant discount bracket.
For larger transfers, allow time for possible checks and keep supporting documents ready. Read our article on large-transfer timing for more detail.
Remember: the volume discount applies progressively
A volume discount does not reduce the fee on your entire monthly transfer volume. We apply the standard fee to the first bracket, then apply the lower fee to the eligible amount in the next bracket.
For instance, if you complete £40,500 of eligible GBP-to-EUR activity in one month, the first £20,000 remains in the standard-fee bracket. The 0.10% discount applies to the remaining £20,500.
This is why the fee displayed when you set up a transfer is the number to use when making a payment decision.

Use your Wise Business card for eligible everyday spending
Your Wise Business card can earn 0.5% cashback on eligible purchases when your account and card are registered in the UK. This can include the day-to-day spending that keeps your business moving, such as eligible software, travel and supplies.
Cashback does not apply to every card payment. ATM withdrawals, gift vouchers, gambling, payments to financial institutions, investments, government payments and tax payments are excluded.
Card cashback can apply across all Wise Business cards tagged to your company account. The monthly maximum is £2,000, or equivalent, and transactions below £2, or equivalent, do not earn cashback.
Check your Rewards at month-end
Cashback is usually paid on the first business day of each month and appears in your Wise Business account as a Reward. A purchase must be cleared by the merchant by the 25th to be included in the following month's payout.
If an expected Reward is missing, check whether the payment was eligible, whether the merchant has cleared it, and whether it was refunded or reversed. This gives you a straightforward way to reconcile card spending without assuming every transaction will earn cashback.
