ABB was selected by Offshore Frontier Solutions Pte. Ltd., a MODEC Group company and joint venture with Toyo Engineering Corporation, to deliver a complete electrical system and associated digital solutions for the vessel. ABB’s scope includes topside and hull electrical systems, delivered through a pre-built ABB eHouse modular substation, together with power management and condition monitoring solutions designed to support energy efficiency, asset availability and operational reliability.
For complex FPSO projects, the ability to integrate, test and validate electrical systems before offshore deployment is critical. ABB’s modular eHouse approach helps reduce execution risk by enabling key systems to be commissioned, installed and tested at the shipyard, supporting faster deployment and reducing the number of interfaces that need to be managed offshore.
Behind the milestone is a multi-phase execution effort spanning engineering, system integration, testing and project execution support. By delivering electrical infrastructure in a modular format, ABB helped provide a more controlled path from design through yard installation, enabling key systems to be prepared and checked before the vessel’s journey to Guyana.
The project required close coordination between MODEC and ABB teams across project management, engineering and delivery. For ABB, the execution focus was not only on supplying equipment, but on supporting the integration of critical electrical systems in a way that could help reduce interface complexity and support readiness for offshore installation.
The project also reflects ABB and MODEC’s long-standing collaboration on FPSO developments in South America. The Errea Wittu FPSO order marked the fourteenth collaboration between the two companies in the region, reinforcing ABB’s experience in supporting floating production projects where execution certainty, system reliability and lifecycle performance are essential.
“The arrival of Errea Wittu in Guyana is a proud milestone for everyone involved in this project. By delivering electrical systems supported by power management and condition monitoring solutions, ABB helps customers and partners reduce execution risk and bring critical offshore energy infrastructure online with confidence,” said Khaleef Khan, Vice President of Offshore Solutions in ABB’s Energy Industries division.
Once operational, the FPSO will contribute to Guyana’s growing offshore energy production capacity. Before production starts, the vessel will undergo offshore installation, connection, testing and commissioning activities.
