Fivetran has been recognized as a Leader in the 2026 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Data Integration Tools. It’s our seventh consecutive appearance in the report. This year we improved in both Ability to Execute and Completeness of Vision. We believe that progression validates the vision behind our merger with dbt Labs: bringing data movement, transformation, and business context together to give enterprises a trusted foundation for analytics and AI.
In June, Fivetran and dbt Labs completed our merger, bringing together automated data movement, transformation, activation, and business context underpinned by our Managed Data Lake offering. Together, these capabilities help customers move data from source systems, turn it into tested models, define consistent business metrics, and put it to work across business applications and AI. We’re also making that work more accessible through visual development and AI-assisted workflows, while preserving customers’ choice of data platforms and tools. The result is a platform recognized by Gartner as Leader in the 2026 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Data Integration Tools.

AI raises the stakes for data integration
As AI takes on more decisions, the quality and context of its data become harder to compromise on. An AI agent can answer a question in seconds but behind that quick answer is a data foundation you can trust. As people and agents use data to answer questions, make decisions, and take action, three challenges come to the front:
- Trust. AI is only as useful as the data and context it can reach. If data is stale, untested, or defined differently by every team, the answers will be too.
- Economics. The cost of AI starts before a question reaches a model. Duplicated pipelines, unnecessary processing, and business logic rebuilt for every new application add up quickly.
- Control. The models, engines, and tools a business uses for AI will keep changing. Its data foundation shouldn’t have to be rebuilt every time they do.
Fivetran+dbt Labs address all three: current data and tested models build trust, reusable pipelines and business definitions improve economics, and open standards preserve customer control.
A unified platform and vision for data and AI
Delivering data for analytics and AI takes more than moving it. Teams need to transform it into reliable models, define what it means, and give applications the context to use it correctly. Connecting these steps gives teams and AI agents context that no single stage provides: where data came from, how it was transformed, which business definitions apply, and what depends on it. That end-to-end lineage helps them interpret data correctly and understand the impact of changes.
We believe Gartner’s evaluation recognizes how much of that workflow Fivetran + dbt Labs now covers:
- Move and activate data: Fivetran’s over 750 managed connectors, plus our Connector SDK for custom development, bring data into customer-controlled warehouses and lakes, while Fivetran Activations delivers it into business tools.
- Build reliable data models: dbt gives practitioners a framework to develop, test, document, and maintain transformations using software engineering best practices.
- Connect data to business meaning: dbt’s semantic capabilities establish consistent metrics and definitions. The Fivetran Context Layer makes business context available to AI, helping applications and agents understand how to interpret and use enterprise data.
- Process only what needs to change: dbt State uses awareness of changes to source data and models to avoid unnecessary transformation work, helping reduce processing and compute costs.
Together, these capabilities give data teams a shared foundation for delivering current, tested data with the business context that analytics and AI depend on.
Leading enterprises such as Snowflake, HubSpot, Zendesk, Fanatics, and Cisco combine Fivetran with dbt to prepare data and context once, then reuse it across analytics and AI.
AI that makes data work easier
AI shouldn’t just consume data. It should help teams build and run the pipelines behind it.
This year we shipped AI assistance across the platform:
- dbt Wizard helps teams generate, refactor, and document dbt models using project context such as lineage, tests, and documentation.
- The AI Connector Agent builds connectors automatically from a URL and API documentation.
- Coding agent plugins for tools like Claude Code and Codex help developers build custom connectors with the Connector SDK.
We’re helping more practitioners and data leaders turn their knowledge of the business into data that AI can use and trust, while giving experienced teams more time to tackle the complex work of bringing AI use cases into production.
Open by design
The tools a business uses for AI will change. Its data infrastructure should make those changes easy, not expensive.
Open Data Infrastructure allows data to move when, where, and how a customer needs it to. At Fivetran + dbt Labs, we continue to invest in open source communities, including dbt v2 and Great Expectations, and in open standards such as Apache Iceberg and Agents Schema. As an independent vendor, we partner closely with not only the major cloud provides,AWS,Google Cloud, andMicrosoft Azure, but also an array of source and target systems inclduing,Databricks,Snowflake, Salesforce, and Oracle.
For customers, the payoff goes beyond the first AI application. Trusted data and consistent definitions stay usable as new models, engines, and agents arrive, without rebuilding the foundation underneath.
What comes next
Being named a Leader in the 2026 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Data Integration Tools is a milestone, not the finish line. Our job is to turn this direction into results customers can measure: less time maintaining pipelines, trusted data for every AI use case, and the freedom to continuously adopt new tools without complex migrations.
The winners in this market will be the platforms that make AI reliable and economical at the same time. That’s why we’re building an open foundation that connects your AI to your data.
