Cisco Takes the Court: Powering a More Connected Future Across the NBA

As the 2026-2027 NBA season begins, Cisco is partnering with the Hawks, Cavaliers, and Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment to build the secure, AI-ready digital infrastructure needed to power the future of live sports venues.

Sports organizations aren’t just focused on what happens on the court anymore. Today’s venues are 24/7 digital hubs—connecting athletes, managing global broadcasts, and keeping tens of thousands of fans online all at once.

Off the court, Cisco will serve as the presenting partner of Score with STEM, one of the Cavaliers’ signature community initiatives that provides students with high-energy, hands-on experiences in science, technology, engineering and math. This is such a powerful example of living out Cisco’s purpose to power an inclusive future for all, and an initiative we are so excited to be a part of.

A Connected Enterprise at Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment

Cisco’s connection to Barclays Center dates back to the opening of the venue in 2012. More than a decade ago, Cisco helped establish the arena as one of the world’s most technologically advanced venues, deploying high-density Wi-Fi, IPTV and an intelligent network designed to support everything from fan connectivity and digital content to security and venue operations.

Today, that relationship is evolving from powering a connected arena to helping Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment build a connected, secure and AI-ready platform. Its ecosystem extends beyond Barclays Center, spanning properties including the Brooklyn Nets, New York Liberty, Long Island Nets, HSS Training Center, Brooklyn Basketball Training Center and a wider entertainment and hospitality portfolio.

With a lean IT organization managing an expanding footprint, Cisco’s unified approach provides greater visibility, simplified management and standardized technology deployments across properties. Over time, that foundation will help Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment move from simply managing infrastructure to gaining greater intelligence from its environment—bringing together network, security, observability and data to support more proactive operations and AI-driven decision-making.

Building a Secure, Connected Future in Atlanta

Cisco’s new partnership with the Atlanta Hawks will bring a rollout of Cisco Wi-Fi 7 at State Farm Arena. As one of only a handful of stadiums and venues around the world deploying this ultra-reliable, high-performance technology, the Hawks are investing in a network that will mean a better gameday experience for fans, by providing a more secure and reliable network infrastructure.

The Hawks are also unveiling the State Farm Arena Production Command Center powered by Cisco to serve as a 365-day-a-year hub where the live entertainment and production teams meet to shape the overall experience for both Hawks’ fans and concertgoers.

All of these upgrades point to one goal – building an AI-ready, scalable foundation capable of scaling alongside the organization’s ambitions for the world-class State Farm Arena.

Expanding the NBA Technology Ecosystem in Cleveland

Cisco’s relationship with the Cavaliers and Rocket Arena dates back nearly 20 years, so it’s exciting to expand it with the team’s new practice facility, the Cleveland Clinic Global Peak Performance Center. The center sets new standards for sports medicine and human performance through innovation, community engagement and specialized athlete care – a strategic investment by the team and a massive win for the city of Cleveland. Cisco’s job is to make sure the team never has to think twice about the technological infrastructure. By providing the secure, high-speed network that keeps everything humming, the Cavs can focus on what matters: putting in the work on the court while Cisco helps give them an advantage off it.

Off the court, Cisco will serve as the presenting partner of Score with STEM, one of the Cavaliers’ signature community initiatives bringing science and basketball together to inspire the next generation of Northeast Ohio innovators. Developed with STEM Playbook, the annual event gives students high-energy, hands-on experiences in science, technology, engineering and math.

The Bottom Line

The game is changing. Cisco is helping these organizations change with it—and stay ahead. By connecting people, protecting experiences, and powering what’s next, we’re giving the Hawks, Cavs, and Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment the foundation to turn their biggest visions into reality.
