Wide Area CMM
Single-person dimension and shape measurement of large targets
POINT 1Single-person measurement
With a measurement range of up to 25 m 82.0' and a handheld probe, single-person measurement is possible for parts, assemblies, and equipment of any size.
High accuracy with an unrivaled measurement range
Large targets can be measured with high accuracy. As the measurement accuracy of conventional arm CMMs changes depending on the length of the arm, it decreases when measuring large targets. The WM Series uses a new three-camera principle to achieve both high accuracy and a wide measurement range.
High accuracy
Wide field of view
Tracking camera
The tracking camera offers high-accuracy detection of the position and orientation of the markers on the probe held by the user.
Reference camera
The reference camera uses a built-in chart for high-accuracy measurement of the camera angle without the need for typical encoders (±120° to the left or right, and ±30° up or down).
Probe search camera
The probe search camera instantly recognizes and tracks the light emitted by the probe, allowing measurement to be performed anywhere in a wide measurement area.
Why the lightweight probe never causes fatigue, even after extended use
In addition to being lightweight, the WM Series has been designed with a carefully considered center of gravity, making the weight less noticeable for the user.
Contact probe
Weight: Approx. 600 g 21.18 oz
Laser-scanning probe
Weight: Approx. 1 kg 2.20 lb
POINT 2On-site measurement
Measure any part, anywhere. Easy inspection in any environment, including the shop floor.
Arm-free design for easy on-site use
The arm-free design enables stress-free measurement of large targets. There is no need to move the device or merge data.
The wireless probe allows measurement from various angles, making the system less susceptible to blind spots. In addition, the camera and PC can also be connected wirelessly, making the system easy to use even in tight workspaces where multiple targets are lined up.
Built-in touch screen: see all menu options and measurement results on the spot
With conventional arm CMMs, measurement results must be checked on a PC. It is not possible to check data during scanning or confirm measurement results on the spot. The probe of the WM Series features a built-in touch screen, allowing all operations and confirmations to be performed on the spot.
With the built-in touch screen, there is no need to move back and forth between the PC and the measuring instrument. Data gaps are also eliminated, meaning that measurement can be completed in just a single scan.
With the built-in touch screen, you can perform the same operations as you would on a PC and check results on the spot. This reduces the time required for each task.
POINT 3Dimensional and shape measurement
Equipped with a contact probe for 3D/GD&T dimensional measurement and a laser-scanning probe for complex shapes and CAD comparison.
An industry first: spray-free scanning of any target
Black or glossy areas of a target can also be scanned without spray. There is no need to apply spray, enabling measurement with consistent accuracy.
Multi-line laser
Conventional arm CMMs primarily use blue lasers, so spray was required for scanning black or glossy areas. The WM Series is equipped with an industry-first violet laser, capable of emitting high-power multi-line laser beams. This enables spray-free scanning of black or glossy areas.
Single high-power laser
Furthermore, for areas that are difficult to scan even with the multi-line laser, the output can be switched to a single high-power laser, making it possible to handle mirrored surfaces such as plating.
High-speed scanning with 30 multi-line lasers
Conventional arm CMMs primarily use a single laser, which means scanning inevitably takes a significant amount of time. The WM Series is equipped with 30 multi-line lasers, achieving high-speed scanning with no need to retrace steps and no gaps in the data.
The long WD means scanning is possible even when the laser-scanning probe is far from the target. The deep depth of field enables scanning of deep holes and grooves with no gaps in the data.
Why is this possible with the WM Series?
The WM Series laser-scanning probe has a WD of 300 mm 11.81" and a depth of field of ±150 mm 5.91", enabling scanning of up to approximately 120° relative to the surface of the target. This allows operators to scan targets from various angles, minimizing data gaps and ensuring reliable data capture.
Free additional basic software licenses: intuitive software for a minimal learning curve
Conventional CMM software has long had a reputation for being difficult to use. Furthermore, an additional paid license was sometimes required to use the software on multiple PCs. The WM-6000 features intuitive operation with a wealth of images and illustrations, allowing anyone to start using it upon installation. What's more, additional licenses of the basic WM Software for use on multiple PCs are free of charge, minimizing post-installation costs.
* The CAD software is a paid option. In terms of licensing, the CAD software can be used on multiple computers for a single camera, but a single CAD software license cannot be used for multiple cameras.
