Traditionally, reviewing Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) lifecycle dates meant logging into the Hybrid Cloud Console, navigating to the Red Hat Lightspeed planning dashboard, and skimming through the lifecycle and digital roadmap pages yourself. Earlier this year, we introduced the Red Hat Lightspeed Model Context Protocol toolset so you can query these support timelines programmatically.

Today, we’re introducing monthly lifecycle and digital roadmap email reports for Red Hat Lightspeed planning for RHEL on the Hybrid Cloud Console. You can now subscribe to monthly reports that summarize upcoming RHEL package support changes across your connected systems and deliver straight to your inbox.

What you get

Lifecycle and digital roadmap email reports are delivered through the Hybrid Cloud Console notification service–the same reliable infrastructure behind email reporting across Red Hat Lightspeed.

At the start of each month, subscribers receive an aggregated lifecycle email report for systems with RHEL 7 or later that are also registered with Red Hat Lightspeed. The email report provides a high-level summary of upcoming changes, including:

  • RHEL versions approaching end-of-life within the next three months
  • Application streams approaching retirement within the next six months
  • Recent support status changes from the previous month

Each aggregated item links directly to the filtered lifecycle view on Hybrid Cloud Console, so you can instantly identify your affected systems without extra navigation.

You can also subscribe to digital roadmap email reports, which summarize new additions, changes, and deprecations relevant to packages on your systems.

The lifecycle and digital roadmap email reports are each delivered on a monthly basis to help reduce noise from daily alerts and provide a reference for IT teams as they plan out their maintenance windows. They also follow the same reporting pattern used by Red Hat Lightspeed advisor for RHEL, so the experience should feel familiar.

Get started

  • Ensure your systems with RHEL 7 or later are registered with Red Hat Lightspeed
  • Log in to Hybrid Cloud Console
  • Select your user name in the upper right, then click on User Preferences to subscribe to receive reports via email
  • Find Lifecycle (and/or Roadmap)
  • Select the Monthly notification checkbox to subscribe

Organizations can also route these events to Slack and other third-party connectors through Hybrid Cloud Console Integrations. For setup details, see Integrating Slack with the Hybrid Cloud Console.

What's next

We’re exploring more advance-notice options for lifecycle summaries and deeper ties into inventory views.

We built this feature because you shouldn't have to look for information that affects your systems, it should come to you. Share your feedback with us directly using the Help button in the console!
