As AI, automation, and data-intensive workloads reshape every industry, organizations are confronting a hard truth: legacy infrastructure can’t keep pace. Forward-looking leaders are rethinking their IT foundations, not just to support growth, but to accelerate it.

•Updated: October 5, 2026

Emerging technologies, rising workloads, and growing complexity are intensifying the need for IT modernization. This can be more than just an investment in updated infrastructure; it’s an opportunity to optimize data centers for better long-term total cost of ownership (TCO), greater operational efficiency, and improved security.

Organizations driving infrastructure refresh initiatives are increasingly looking for solutions that not only improve operational efficiency but also provide a foundation for AI, automation, and future business growth. Modern server platforms can help organizations consolidate infrastructure, reduce energy consumption, and simplify management while preparing for next-generation workloads. At the heart of this shift is a new generation of infrastructure powered by Intel® Xeon® 6 processors, designed to support traditional enterprise applications and emerging AI workloads on a common platform.

Organizations around the world are already realizing the benefits of modernization. For IT teams managing rising power, cooling, and operational demands, the latest Lenovo ThinkSystem V4 servers powered by Intel® Xeon® 6 processors can enable:

  • 4:1 server consolidation
  • 2.5x lower energy consumption
  • 4.2x fewer CPUs with 37% fewer cores

High-core-count processors, faster memory, and advanced I/O capabilities improve enterprise performance and support demanding new AI and automation workloads.

Building AI-ready operations

For the City of San Gabriel, CA, infrastructure modernization was the first crucial step in a major project to upgrade its public safety operations ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026™.

With the number of visitors to Los Angeles County set to increase dramatically during the tournament, public safety agencies would need to process huge volumes of operational data in real time. San Gabriel set about implementing an AI inferencing solution that would unify operational data into a more connected real-time view for first responders—but its existing infrastructure lacked the compute performance required to support these workloads.

Lenovo ThinkSystem servers powered by Intel® Xeon® 6 processors form the basis of San Gabriel’s new on-premises AI platform, enabling 24/7 AI-powered operational analysis and real-time situational awareness across multiple data streams. This supports faster, smarter decision-making and coordination of first responders, helping to improve public safety across the city. The deployment shows how modern on-premises infrastructure can place AI inferencing close to operational data for time-sensitive decisions.

“Technology is changing the landscape of law enforcement,” says Eddie Elizalde, Chief of Police at San Gabriel Police Department. “To provide premier public safety to our community members, we want to make sure we are up to speed on the best practices, and that includes incorporating technology into policing.”

Creating the infrastructure for innovation

From Los Angeles County to the Australian Outback, organizations the world over are looking to build strong foundations for AI.

For Arafura Connect—an internet and technology service provider based in Darwin in Australia’s remote and vast Northern Territory—infrastructure modernization is key to accommodating emerging customer workloads, especially in the AI and edge space.

“To ensure we could continue providing the highest quality service to businesses across the Northern Territory, we looked for next-generation servers that would deliver high performance and efficiency while integrating seamlessly with our existing systems,” says Managing Director Michael Feldbauer.

New Lenovo ThinkSystem SR650 V4 and SR650a V4 servers, powered by Intel® Xeon® 6 processors, provide local capacity for AI workloads to help Northern Territory businesses unlock innovation. Integrated Intel® AMX accelerators add built-in acceleration for AI workloads, strengthening the platform’s role as a foundation for emerging AI and edge services.

“This is just the latest chapter in our long partnership with Lenovo,” comments Feldbauer. “The new ThinkSystem servers give us, and our customers, significant headroom for growth and innovation.”

Delivering performance at scale

While AI is more of a long-term priority for Belagavi District Central Co-Operative Bank (BDCC Bank), infrastructure modernization was still a pressing issue.

The bank, which primarily serves farmers in Belagavi in southwestern India, must keep its web and mobile banking services online around the clock. After all, farming is a 24/7 job—and BDCC Bank strives to be there for its customers whenever they need them.

Growing demand for these services meant that BDCC Bank’s existing hardware struggled to meet the performance requirements of its core banking applications. Refreshing its infrastructure with Lenovo ThinkSystem SR650 V4 servers powered by Intel® Xeon® 6 processors delivered a 100% performance increase, resulting in 70% faster application response times.

“Application performance has improved phenomenally,” confirms IT Manager Sunil Kamble. “We’re proud to support the district’s farmers, and upgrading our infrastructure has enabled us to enhance the services we provide them.”

Modern infrastructure for what’s next

From AI-powered public safety and edge innovation to mission-critical banking services, these organizations show how infrastructure modernization can address today’s requirements while preparing for tomorrow’s AI opportunities. Lenovo ThinkSystem servers powered by Intel® Xeon® 6 processors provide the performance, efficiency, security, and scalability organizations need to modernize with confidence and without compromise. That’s the power of Lenovo with Intel Inside®.
