RGB has become a familiar part of the gaming setup. Your keyboard, mouse, headset, and other Razer Chroma RGB-enabled devices can share the same lighting, creating a setup that feels connected from one device to the next.
So what does RGB actually add when it reaches your gaming chair?
With the Razer Soma Chroma, the answer goes beyond choosing a color for the room. As Razer’s first wireless RGB gaming chair, it brings Reactive Game Lighting to where you sit, allowing the chair to respond alongside the rest of your Razer Chroma RGB setup in supported games.
Here’s what that means when you play.
From RGB Lighting to Reactive Game Lighting
There are different ways RGB can become part of your setup.
You might choose a color that matches your battlestation or synchronize an effect across your Razer Chroma RGB-enabled devices. Razer Soma Chroma supports that kind of personalization, with 16.8 million colors and 10 lighting presets available through Razer Synapse.
Reactive Game Lighting adds another layer. In supported games, the lighting can change in response to what is happening on screen.
That means the experience does not stop at the peripherals sitting on your desk. With RGB lighting integrated into its headrest wings, Razer Soma Chroma can join the same game-reactive experience around you.
That difference was central to how Addie Tan, Razer’s Global Head of Lifestyle Division, described Razer Soma Chroma at launch. While RGB can already help gamers personalize their setups, simply putting lights on a chair was not the goal.
“There are gaming chairs with lights, but lights alone don’t make a chair immersive. With Soma, the lighting reacts to what’s happening on screen in real time. That’s not decoration, that’s participation.”

That is what Reactive Game Lighting adds to the chair. Instead of functioning as a separate RGB element in the room, Razer Soma Chroma can become part of the same game-reactive lighting experience as the compatible devices around it.
Does RGB Mean More Cables Around Your Chair?
Bringing reactive lighting to a chair creates a practical challenge: a chair still needs to move freely around your setup.
Razer Soma Chroma communicates wirelessly with your PC through the included Razer HyperSpeed Wireless dongle, while a USB Type-C connection supplies power to the RGB lighting.
That power can come from a wall outlet or a standard power bank stored on the chair. With a power bank, there is no cable running from your chair to your desk while you play.
This keeps the chair free to move while maintaining the connection needed for its lighting to respond with the rest of your setup.
What If You’re Not Playing an Integrated Game?
Reactive Game Lighting is one way to use Razer Chroma RGB on the Razer Soma Chroma.
Outside an integrated game, you can use Razer Synapse to select from 10 lighting presets, choose from 16.8 million colors, and synchronize the chair with other Chroma-enabled devices.
For quick changes, the built-in control panel lets you cycle through lighting effects, adjust brightness, and manage connectivity directly from the chair. Mobile control is also available through the Razer Furniture App over Bluetooth.
So whether your lighting is responding to a game or setting the look of your battlestation, the chair can remain part of the wider Razer Chroma RGB setup.
RGB on a gaming chair is easy to see. The more interesting part of the Razer Soma Chroma is what happens when that lighting connects with the games and devices around it.
Reactive Game Lighting gives the chair a role in an experience that has traditionally lived on and around the desk. Across more than 300 integrated games, Razer Soma Chroma can respond alongside compatible Chroma-enabled gear and extend that experience to where you sit.
That is what bringing a gaming chair into the Razer Chroma RGB ecosystem makes possible.
