Dashboard edit mode is going away on mobile phones

Starting November 5th, 2026, edit mode for dashboards will no longer be available on a mobile phone. Dashboards will become view-only on a phone. Editing on a tablet is not affected: tablets keep full dashboard edit mode, with the same feature set as desktop.

Editing on a tablet is not affected: tablets keep full dashboard edit mode, with the same feature set as desktop.

Why we’re changing it

We’re focusing our mobile investment on making the dashboard viewing experience on phones as fast and reliable as possible, rather than splitting effort across both viewing and editing. Keeping a phone-sized editing experience up to date with every new dashboard feature has meant that editing on a phone increasingly lags behind what you can do on a tablet or desktop. Moving editing to larger-screen devices means you always get the full, current editing feature set, and it lets us invest more in improving the phone viewing experience.

What isn’t changing

Viewing dashboards on a phone is unaffected. It works exactly as before, and remains the recommended way to use dashboards on a phone.

Editing dashboards on a tablet or desktop is unaffected. All existing dashboards, panels, and permissions remain exactly as they are. Nothing about how dashboards are viewed or stored changes.

You don’t need to take any action if you only view dashboards on your phone or already use a tablet or desktop to edit them.

If you edit dashboards on a phone

  • If you or anyone on your team edits dashboards from a phone, switch to a tablet or desktop browser before November 5, 2026 to keep editing dashboards.
  • As a short-term workaround on some phones, requesting the desktop site in your mobile browser’s page settings might still let you reach edit mode. This is not an officially supported path and is not guaranteed to keep working, so plan to move to a tablet or desktop rather than relying on it.
