This October, we’re launching a new challenge for the JetBrains Academy community. To take part, complete our Build a Game With an AI Coding Agent course, customize the game with your own ideas, and submit your project for a chance to win prizes.

How to participate

Joining the challenge is simple:

Complete the Build a Game With an AI Coding Agent course.
Add your own features or improvements.
Submit your game.

You can add new levels, enemies, gameplay mechanics, visual improvements, or anything else that makes your game unique. Creativity is encouraged, so feel free to experiment and surprise us!

You’ll find the full challenge rules on our Discord server, where you can also submit your project.

Save the dates

October 12, 8:00 am UTC (10:00 am CEST) – The challenge begins! You can start taking the course and working on your game extension.
October 19, 8:00 am UTC (10:00 am CEST) – Submissions and community voting open. Starting October 19, you can submit your project in our Discord channel. Anyone from the community can vote for their favorite submissions. You’re welcome to invite friends or share your project on social media to encourage more people to join the Discord server and vote for your project.
October 23, 9:00 am UTC (11:00 am CEST) – The clock stops! Voting and submissions close. Make sure your project is submitted before the deadline.
October 28 – Winners announced!

Build with a coding agent – free to start

You can complete the course in any setup you like. If you’re looking for an easy, free way to get started, our video guide shows you how to build your game with Junie Lite in JetBrains Air inside your IDE.

JetBrains Air brings coding agents right into your JetBrains IDE, and you can use Junie Lite, JetBrains’ cost-efficient coding agent, for free*. All you need is a JetBrains Account.

Planning something more ambitious, like a new level system or complex game mechanics? You may want a more capable model. In Air, you can switch to another agent or use your own AI subscription whenever you need more power – and the early participant bonus below can help with that, too.

The agent writes the code. Making it a great game is up to you.

How winners are selected

Winners will be chosen in two ways: by our community and by the JetBrains jury.

Community Choice

Community members can view the projects, choose their favorites, and vote by reacting to submission posts. Community Choice winners will be determined by the number of reactions received during the voting period.
