Blue Yonder recognized again as a Leader in the Nucleus Research 2026 Transportation Management Systems Technology Value Matrix™

Blue Yonder is proud to be named a Leader in the Nucleus Research 2026 Transportation Management Systems Technology Value Matrix™ for the fourth consecutive year. The report assesses how Transportation Management System (TMS) vendors deliver value to customers through the usability and…

Blue Yonder is also a Leader in multiple Nucleus Research Value Matrix reports, which include Enterprise Supply Chain Planning, WMS Technology, Control Tower Technology, and OMS Technology.

This recognition comes as transportation management continues to evolve beyond traditional planning, tendering, and settlement. Nucleus Research analyst Charles Brennan describes a market increasingly focused on connected transportation ecosystems that incorporate real-time market intelligence, continuous optimization, and broader supply chain execution. AI is accelerating this shift through automated workflows, exception management, and increasingly autonomous decision-making.

For Blue Yonder, these market shifts align closely with how we advance transportation management as part of the broader Blue Yonder Platform, connecting transportation with warehouse management, labor management, supply chain planning, order management, our global network of trading partners, and supply chain orchestration capabilities.

Moving transportation toward exception-led operations

The growing role of AI in transportation operations emerged as one of the most significant developments highlighted in the 2026 report. Brennan notes that TMS platforms are evolving from systems that primarily plan transportation toward systems that increasingly execute, monitor, and resolve work for the user.

Blue Yonder is helping advance this shift by embedding AI and machine learning across transportation planning, network modeling, and operational workflows.

Our Logistics Ops Agent continuously monitors transportation activity to surface risks, disruptions, inefficiencies, and optimization opportunities. It can identify issues such as unrouteable shipments, backhaul opportunities, and weather-related risks, utilizing conversational AI to recommend actions and help teams focus attention on exceptions.

Blue Yonder has also expanded AI across Transportation Modeling and Route Guidance.

Our Transportation Modeling agents help users interpret complex models, configure strategies, and access planning insights using natural-language interaction. Route Guidance draws on historical shipment patterns and agentic AI to recommend practical routes and provide the optimization engine with stronger routing guidance.

The result is a transportation environment designed to reduce the manual effort of finding and interpreting issues and, instead, enable planners to concentrate on the exceptions and decisions that require their expertise.

Connecting transportation decisions across the supply chain

Transportation rarely operates in isolation. An inventory change, order priority, warehouse capacity, or a supply disruption can quickly affect the feasibility of an existing transportation plan. In this report, Brennan identifies growing demand for TMS solutions that can incorporate information from ERP, WMS, OMS, and supply chain planning applications, helping organizations evaluate transportation decisions in the context of the broader supply chain.

Blue Yonder Transportation Management is part of the broader Blue Yonder Platform, integrating with Blue Yonder WMS, OMS, and Planning capabilities and allowing transportation decisions to incorporate adjacent inventory, order, warehouse, and supply chain execution data.

Going further, our TMS also connects with the Blue Yonder Network to extend carrier connectivity, shipment visibility, and collaboration across suppliers, carriers, logistics providers, and other trading partners. The report highlights connectivity across APIs, EDI, portals, mobile interfaces, telematics (including GPS, ELD, and IoT), and ocean tracking sources, supporting real-time shipment monitoring, predictive ETAs, carrier collaboration, appointment coordination, and exception management across multiple modes.

As transportation planning evolves from a periodic optimization exercise to a continuous process that responds to changing execution conditions, this connected approach gains increasing importance.

Modernizing the transportation experience

As TMS functionality becomes more sophisticated, usability is becoming an increasingly important differentiator. In this report, Brennan identifies usability as a competitive battleground, with vendors modernizing dispatcher workbenches, administration, mobile experiences, natural-language interaction, and role-based interfaces.

Over the past year, Blue Yonder transitioned TMS capabilities to a common Blue Yonder Platform user experience. Nucleus Research highlighted enhancements, including natural-language AI interactions, expanded mobile experiences, configurable branding, light and dark modes, and redesigned tables, maps, and dashboards.

Brennan acknowledged this effort: “I have heard a lot about the future of navigating platforms through natural language, but this is the first time I have seen it working in a product. I tip my cap to the (Blue Yonder) team. Many companies are investing in this direction, but I have not seen a demo this polished. This is very impressive.”

We introduced a centralized administration experience for Cognitive TMS with semantic search and streamlined application, financial, integration, and system configuration, along with a cloud-native Transportation Report Designer and event-driven Tender Service.

Together, these investments support a more consistent experience for accessing transportation workflows, data, insights, and AI assistance.

Expanding the depth of transportation execution

While AI is reshaping the market, Brennan’s research emphasizes that transportation organizations still need deep execution capabilities across increasingly complex multimodal environments. Blue Yonder supports transportation planning and execution across common-carrier, private, and dedicated fleets, as well as parcel, LTL, ocean, rail, and multimodal operations.

The 2026 report highlights a broad range of Blue Yonder enhancements over the past 12 months, including:

  • Enhanced logistics procurement and automated tariff creation;
  • Expanded Transportation Smartbench and freight payment capabilities;
  • Additional carrier-network collaboration across private and dedicated fleets, ocean, rail, and other transportation workflows;
  • Enhanced fleet dispatch operations;
  • Expanded North American rail and bulk transportation support;
  • Automated Cognitive TMS upgrade processes; and
  • Expanded transportation emissions management through interoperability with the Blue Yonder Logistics Emissions Calculator.

These developments reflect Blue Yonder’s TMS strategy that brings together optimization, execution, network collaboration, financial management, and AI-supported decision-making within a broader connected supply chain environment.

Driving the next generation of transportation management

Our continued recognition as a Leader in the Nucleus Research TMS Technology Value Matrix reflects our ongoing innovation across transportation planning and execution.

As transportation operations become more connected, adaptive, and automated, the opportunity goes beyond simply creating a better transportation plan. It is about helping organizations respond to changing conditions, reduce manual coordination, connect transportation decisions with the broader supply chain, and give users the intelligence they need to act quickly and confidently.

Blue Yonder combines advanced optimization, agentic AI, multimodal execution, network collaboration, and a modern user experience to help transportation teams manage increasing complexity, transforming transportation into a more resilient, efficient, and financially accountable part of the supply chain.
